Get to Know | Dimpyy
In this release, we’re proud to introduce Dimpyy, the strategic thinker and people connector leading our talent acquisition efforts at FOLKS Mumbai.
CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR ROLE?
I lead the talent acquisition team. This is a strategic and operational role essential to securing top creative and technical talent. I work closely with producers, department heads, and human resources to anticipate project needs and align recruitment strategies with the studio's short-term deadlines and long-term growth.
My role also includes championing FOLKS as an employer of choice in the VFX community and developing initiatives to increase brand visibility at events, online, and within creative communities.
WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO THE VFX INDUSTRY?
I was drawn to the VFX industry the same way audiences are drawn to the screen: by wonder. I think there’s something magical about watching the impossible come to life. Early on, I knew I wouldn’t be the one sculpting dragons or building digital explosions, but I also knew I wanted to be part of that world. And Talent Acquisition gave me that door in.
What I love about the VFX industry is that you get to work with brilliant creatives, stay ahead of trends, and play a key role in growing teams that make movie magic and iconic content. No two days are the same, and every great shot on screen started with a great hire, someone you found. What attracted me then still drives me now and I still feel lucky to be a part of it.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE CONSIDERING A CAREER IN VFX RECRUITMENT?
VFX is a high-pressure, fast-changing environment, and recruiters need to stay calm, resourceful, and solution-focused, whether it is juggling multiple hires or reacting to sudden pipeline shifts. Production deadlines shift… visas get denied… a superstar candidate drops out. You’ve got to adapt fast!
The community is tight-knit and global, so networking is essential. I think it’s what separates good recruiters from great ones! The best recruiters think long term: building relationships, not just filling positions. They know who’s wrapping up a project, who’s ready to relocate, etc.
Finally, to succeed in VFX recruitment, you need to speak the language of artists and technicians. You need to understand not just the nuances between departments and job titles, but also workflows, industry-specific software tools, and what makes a strong reel or showreel.
THE FIVE MAIN VALUES OF FOLKS ARE CREATIVITY, COLLABORATION, EXCELLENCE, SIMPLICITY, AND KINDNESS. WHICH ONE DO YOU MOST IDENTIFY WITH?
While all five core values are essential and interconnected, I see Collaboration as the foundation where the others come together and thrive. It creates the space for values to interact and drive meaningful progress.
Creative collaboration isn’t about individual brilliance, it’s about building something stronger together. It drives excellence when people share openly, refine ideas collectively, and focus on growth rather than guarding knowledge. And kindness is what holds it all together, and makes the process inclusive, respectful, and truly team-driven. When collaboration is built on creativity, excellence, and kindness, teams don’t just work together, they thrive and deliver innovative, high-quality results grounded in mutual respect.
IF YOU COULD TRANSFER TO ANOTHER PITCH BLACK LOCATION, WHERE WOULD YOU GO?
India will always be my first and forever love, but if I had the chance, I’d choose Adelaide as my home. I was lucky to live there a few years back. It’s a thriving city known as the “festival city,” with beautiful landscapes, galleries, theaters, and so much artistic life to experience. The climate is a dream, and as a big beach lover, the stunning Glenelg and Henley beaches are just the cherry on top!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FOLKS PROJECT?
While every show is important and holds the same value for our department, The Umbrella Academy felt like a particularly prestigious show, so I’d choose this one!
