DARK MATTER
SHOWREEL
OUR WORK
For Apple TV’s series Dark Matter, our team crafted a range of striking environments to match the story’s complex worlds. Our task was to turn Blake Crouch’s novel into believable, visually engaging scenes. We began by building a detailed digital model of Chicago. This model served as the foundation for creating different versions of the city for each episode.
We combined 3D models with detailed matte paintings to make the environments look realistic and adaptable. Some of our team’s challenges included accurately recreating snow and blending various elements seamlessly into the cityscape.
One notable project was the solarpunk elevator sequence. Our artists used advanced visual techniques to show the impressive height and changing light effects as the elevator moved, enhancing the dramatic impact of the scene. By working closely with art departments and following Blake Crouch’s vision, we delivered environments that truly brought the story to life.
