Philippe Thibault is VFX Supervisor, Head of the Montreal studio, co-founder of FOLKS, and partner at Pitch Black. After ending his career as a professional golfer in 2004, Philippe decided to embark on a career in visual effects, starting at Anthem VFX before founding FOLKS.

With now over 20 years of experience in the industry, Philippe has worked on major projects like Shadowhunters and The Mysterious Benedict Society, the latter earning him an Emmy nomination for his VFX supervision. He has been nominated for multiple Emmys, VES awards, and has won two Geminis.

Philippe has worn many hats throughout his career—working as a compositor, VFX supervisor, and Head of Studio. His experience in high-pressure environments, gained from both professional sports and the VFX industry, has shaped his ability to maintain focus, keep teams motivated, and meet deadlines without compromising on quality. Known for his problem-solving skills, Philippe works closely with clients and internal teams to deliver high-quality, tailored solutions. His leadership style focuses on collaboration and clear communication, ensuring that every project runs smoothly and exceeds expectations.

Philippe remains deeply involved in the VFX community and is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
