OUR WORK

Behind the VFX of Twisted Metal Season 2, with Jonathan Piché-Delorme, VFX Supervisor, and Maria Saade, VFX Producer.

BREAKDOWN

WHAT KIND OF WORK DID THE TEAM DO ON TWISTED METAL?
Jonathan: We handled everything: muzzle flashes, sparks, tracers, fire, crowds, explosions and set extensions. This show is packed with action, so it was a lot of chaos and visual intensity, and our work had to match that energy. Each shot was dense and technically demanding. It was all about creating that fast-paced, over-the-top feel that’s true to the game’s tone.
Maria: Episode 205, for example, had some of the most intense sequences we worked on. But the team stayed on top of everything. The coordination between departments and with the client really helped us keep up the pace and deliver strong visuals across the season.

WHAT MADE THIS PROJECT STAND OUT FOR THE TEAM?
Maria: So many of our artists grew up playing the original Twisted Metal game, so it meant something to them. They were excited from the start and fully invested in making this version of the story look as good as possible. That energy really translated into the work.
Jonathan: Yeah, that sense of nostalgia was real. And when you’re working on something that people genuinely care about, it shows.

WHAT WAS THE CLIENT RELATIONSHIP LIKE THROUGHOUT THE SEASON?
Maria: We couldn’t have asked for better collaborators. Alex Schade and Josh Spivack were incredibly transparent and supportive. Communication was always clear, which made a huge difference, especially on a show with this much volume and complexity.
Jonathan: It felt like a real partnership. They trusted us, gave us room to do the work, and were very responsive. That kind of working relationship is what lets you focus on solving challenges creatively, without unnecessary back-and-forth.
