OUR WORK

Our team contributed to a wide range of invisible effects across all eight episodes of The Waterfront, delivering over 630 shots across nine months of production. The project was led from our Montréal studio with support from our teams in Atlanta and Bogotá.

Among the most striking sequences were the underwater sharks, CG man-o-war tentacles, and detailed gore simulations including body part explosions, muzzle flashes, and blood hits.

To shape the maritime setting, we extended the fishery building and surrounding docks in CG, expanded the ocean environment, and replaced skies to maintain the show’s dark, stormy tone.

One of the biggest challenges was transforming scenes filmed near a harbor into the illusion of deep-ocean settings, all while keeping the effects grounded and cinematic.

Beyond large-scale shots, much of our work remained imperceptible—rig removals, production clean-up, set enhancements, splitscreens, and compositing for monitors and cellphones—all crafted to support the story without drawing attention to the effects themselves.

Working closely with Netflix, the process was highly collaborative, with constant alignment to ensure the VFX elevated the intensity and realism of the series.
